This is totally great. I think it made a great comparison between racism and being against gay marriage. I highly recommend watching this.

Religion is based off of your own personal faith and beliefs and with so many different versions and beliefs you can't let one person say what it means and stereotype that religion. You also have to consider the fact that things change with time, people evolve and so do thoughts. Like Snider showed in the video, we once thought that racism was right and accepting other nationalities was against their religion.

As I have said before, religion should have no influence when it comes to government policy. As for the bible, I could point out many things wrong with the bible, and the idea that Christianity not supporting gay relationships. I will not, simply out of the urge as to not ruin peoples views on religion. What I will say, is that the bible should also have no say on our government as well. Religion should, and is, also limited in the US, contrary to popular belief. Religion has been limited to 1st, no human sacrifice. (We don't need them crazy beheading Aztec's coming in and just start slicing peoples heads off right?) Second, separation of church and state. That right there means religion is not allowed to say, "You can't be gay, ban gay marriage." (And oddly, it still managed to happen.) I'm really looking forward to the supreme courts ruling on this, as long as they decide to take the case.

It was a very unprofessional thing to say, especially about a fellow leader. Even if you disagree with someone that was taken out of hand.

That Philippines President Duterte needs to loosen up, he has bad thoughts about everyone, and says them out loud, whether they're a common citizen or a leader, and he's proving himself to be dangerous to others. He said, "You drug pushers, hold-up men and do-nothings, you better go out. Because I'd kill you." He also raped a woman of her dignity after she was dead saying, "What a pity...they raped her, they all lined up. I was mad she was raped, but she was so beautiful. I thought, the mayor should have been first." He called both President Obama and the Pope something inappropriate.

Keeping the two high schools the way they are is not entirely because of racism. Some of the kids go to the schools out of tradition. I think for this case the courts are going to have to decide what defines integration. Do the races need to be 50/50 in schools? Is it still integrated if it is 75% white and 25% black?

About 20 students at a Virginia high school received a one-day suspension for wearing clothing displaying the Confederate flag. Montgomery County Public Schools spokeswoman Brenda Drake says the clothing violated Christiansburg High School's dress code. I think that they should be able to wear clothes that have that it shouldn't matter they are showing that they have pride in were they came from the confederate flag shouldn't be taking away. My favorite TV show the Dukes of Hazard won't be aired on TV anymore because of people throwing a fit about it and the dukes have it because the have pride in were they live/came from. Yeah I know there's racism under the flag but people say they want to move on but get rid of the flag. If the have pride that's why they were the flag not to be racist then the should be able to were the flag

It is great to see so many comments on this case, we will be discussing this specifically in regards to our First Amendment rights together in class. Food for thought might be to consider what a symbol might represent to one group can be very different for another (think Nazi swastika and it's origin). I especially agree with Sophia who asks whether using a symbol so closely tied with racism begs the question of what aspects of Southern pride you are showing you are proud of?

The first lady, Michelle Obama has been known for her ability to persuade and has since been called "the closer" for her husbands previous campaigns. Just recently Mrs. Obama opened up with sexual assault cases against Trump, (not to her of course but past charges or claims). Thus being the second time this year alone that Michelle has connected with her audience and left her point clear with support.

In her speeches you can tell she is very passionate about what she is saying. She is a democrat so many will say she's only taking Hillary's side because of that, but it goes deeper than that. She believes that Hillary winning will have people standing up against Trump and his bad comments towards women. She doesn't think that what he says is an okay thing for anyone to say, especially someone who might become our president.

Trump said he was going to do these things in his campaign, but now that it's really happened people feel they need to protest everything. I think these next few years we'll have the most protest ever.

I agree with kenzie because people are taking it so far with the protesting when then knew this was going to happen when Trump became president.

Suffering from the drug epidemic isn't what sets Ithaca apart. It's how their mayor wants to deal with it that makes Ithaca unique. The city is nestled along the southern shores of Lake Cayuga and consistently recognized as a great place to live in United States.

There have been other countries who have tried similar approaches and it showed a dramatic drop in violent crime. It might seem risky but the people who are addicted to heroin are using no matter what the laws allow.

why would you do that when all thats going to do is make the crime rate over that drug and stuff go down. But yet therewill still be those people who do nothing but the drug and not get a job so there are still to many people relying on the government to take care of them for the rest of their life.

I believe that he is entitled to his own opinion, and if he wants to share his opinion then he is allowed to. Him not liking Trump is okay, but his remark about running him over or whatever is maybe a little inappropriate, not the worst thing ever, but still maybe not something to say about our potentially near future president.

I still think that Trump will win Indiana even if it is only Cruz and him going head to head. I think whatever states that Kasich and Trump go head to head over will be won by Trump. There is a part of me that thinks that this is not a very great idea but there is a not much else they can do. Trump is gaining votes quickly.

i love obama

Yes, Obama hasn't been the best, but he has done a much better job than Bush. Let us not forget that Bush is the one who set us into debt and left Obama on a sliding slope. He has actually made our decrease much better then how Bush left us and he has created a lot of new jobs. An example: Bush's reign is a car. He made this car junky and it barely runs and is steadily getting worse. Obama is then sold the car and he starts to make repairs, but the car keeps breaking and having other parts go bad because of the state it was left in. Obama is doing everything that he can to make this car good again. It's also frustrating that everyone is so against what Obama is doing. I mean if you think he's doing such a bad job, do you think you could do it better? What could you do differently compared to what Obama is doing? This takes time to get out of debt. It's not like you can just snap your fingers and make the debt go away. So, maybe we should think before we just hate our President because everything's not perfect. Perhaps we should think before we just bash on someone.

Obama is in the 98th percentile for his NCAA bracket. Little fun fact for you guys.

This women is given a medical drug. When she drive's when she's is still high? So if she is getting medical weed and they make a law stating that you can not be "high" or drugged up before driving. Then why doesn't the government give them transportation, sure buses work if you live in the city, or taxi's. But why should she have to pay when the hospitals are giving it to her.

I believe she should not be driving while under the influence. Even if she is prescribed the drug, there should be warnings and other precautions taken to prevent accidents.

Maybe she should try cocaine I heard that works too.

I'm honestly not sure whether at should laugh or cry because of this ridiculousness. So Obama is going to take over the U.S., but then he's going to "give the sovereignty of the United States away to the United Nations." Because that's what the UN does, right? It governs countries? And who exactly are Obama's "czars?" "He's got his czars in place that don't answer to anybody." I don't know if it's more worrying that Judge Head believes Obama is planning to become dictator of the U.S., or that he doesn't realize that he's implying Obama's czars don't listen to Obama, which would really mean that they are trying to take over the U.S., not Obama. And people in Texas actually support/believe this man? All I can say is that I'm glad I wasn't born in Lubbock County.

A federal court judge on Tuesday ordered Massachusetts officials to provide sex-reassignment surgery for a transsexual prison inmate, after determining that it was the only adequate treatment for the inmate's mental illness.

I personally think that this was a great decision. I believe that a person's mental health is the most important aspect in the road to any sort of recovery. Even though the transgender inmate did commit a murder, she deserves to have the resources to stabilize her well-being. Should the rest of America have to pay for it? Perhaps not, but I don't mind helping out someone who desperately needs it. Although, I guess that depends on your belief on the importance of mental health.

Jenny, this is really not a matter of sexual interests. If this person wants a sex change, it may be because of this sexual interest, but then again, it may not. They may simply want to be a female. The funding should come from the inmate, but the inmate cannot earn funds while behind bars, perhaps the inmate should be allowed to work up to being allowed to have a sex change operation.

I think that with the way that some judges are, that the drug use is going to be to blame for the incident. I don't think it is because even if he din't he still could have just done something crazy. When people who have mental health issues do something bad, their mental state is usually blamed, which should be wrong because whether they're crazy or not, they know what's right and wrong.

Just a counterpoint, PCP often results in extreme anger and violence that would not have occured otherwise. Also, some 'crazy' people do not have the ability to distinguish between right and wrong. This kind of generalization and categorization is what leads to the problems you bring up.

Thanks for posting this story. Sometimes issues like bullying and discrimination are hard to personify without hearing how the victims are impacted. I think there was some level of attention at our school with the "give it a ponder" lessons. Do you think our school needs to do more to address bullying (physical or cyber)? Any suggestions?
