The article is from 2011, but I think it's really interesting considering the current gun control debate going on in the U.S.

Danvers, Massachusetts (CNN) -- Students will get back to reading, writing and arithmetic on Thursday at schools all over this small Massachusetts town. Except for one. Danvers High School. Students and their parents there will talk to grief counselors. They and police investigators are asking why their much loved math teacher was killed.

Why does gun reform fail, no matter how intense the outrage from horrendous attacks?

Obama is still trying to regulate gun control. Getting pass congress is hard. He is shocked that after the Sandy Hook's shooting congress does not agree with him.

Although death is always sad, they recovered a handgun at the scene so the kid wasn't innocent obviously, and if people wont accept that he wasn't innocent that's there point of view and that's them but they cant go starting like a racism war because of that. Theirs facts then there's the like made up and some people find it hard to see which ones which

The cop maybe could have settled the situation differently, but the rioting and throwing bricks and setting a fire work off near a gas station is unacceptable. You can protest all you want but you can't hurt the people that are trying to protect you.

It's unfortunate that these types of riots are happening and it's to blame on race and ignorance. It's also sad it happened so close to Ferguson, but in this case the boy clearly wasn't innocent himself. The young boy had a gun on him and did raise his hand, and an officer will go to any lengths to defend himself and other citizens around. There shouldn't be riots over this situation because the boy was in the wrong. Not every situation that involve two different colored people is unjust because of race.

Obama is announcing "executive orders" which have the same power as a law, but there are many Republicans who believed that the President should not be able to take actions in this way without getting a law passed through Congress. What do you think?

I believe that this might be a good safety measure but it takes our freedoms further away.

This is a step in the right direction for proper gun regulation but I believe that the president of the United States shouldn't be able to enact this as a law without congress because if he can that is too much power for one person.

The thought someone being able to get guns sent to a college and not get into trouble. Then he almost shot up a college with thousands of rounds of ammunition but ended up killing himself before hand. I think this should have been handled when the college had guns that were sent to him from an online store.

I think it's crazy that he could have this all sent to the college ready to use.

It's kind of sad that he was charged with possessing a gun although there was no evidence. Also because there was no way to not have been accused.

This is textbook racial profiling.

This is absolutely crazy! This is a perfect example of police crossing the line of authority. He was killed because he wouldn't shut off the truck. His dad was trying to teach him a lesson, not kill him.

Sad stuff out there. And it kinda hits home considering this took place here in Iowa...

Not that I want to admit it, but last year I got in HUGE trouble because I told my mothers car multiple times without permission. What if they would have wanted to teach me a lesson? Would I get killed just because I had a moment of bad decisions? This makes me think how easily this could have been me.
