Learning Maths with 4KM and 4KJ | 4KM and 4KJ @ Leopold Primary School - 0 views

  • Learning Maths with 4KM and 4KJ Posted by Mrs Kathleen Morris on Friday, September 21st 2012      We were recently inspired by the work of our blogging buddies in B4. These students from New Zealand made some maths videos with their teacher, Mrs McKenzie. When 4KM and 4KJ saw the videos they decided they’d like to make their own. All of the students chose a topic that we had covered this term in our maths classes. We came up with some tips for making a maths video that teaches the audience something. Some of our tips were: I

iLearn Technology » Blog Archive » Super Math World - 0 views

  • Super Math World isn’t a totally free site but it does have a LOT of free content that kids can access.
  • Free topics include: adding, measures, number patterns, percentages, place value, area, estimating, fractions, negative numbers, set theory, venn diagrams, and series.  The kids will enjoy the arcade-like practice area.
  • How to integrate Super Math World into the classroom:  Super Math World makes a great computer center activity during math.  The games are quick-enough that students can filter through classroom computers for their turn over a few periods.  The games would also make fun whole-class interactive whiteboard games.  These are intended to be one player, so you can split your students into teams and have them take turns at the board.

iLearn Technology » Blog Archive » BBC Bitesize: Converting fractions into de... - 0 views

  • What it is: BBC Bitesize consistently has wonderful games and activities for the classroom.  The Converting Fractions into Decimals activity isn’t one I have come across in the past, but it is a winner none the less.  This is a great place for students to gain some practice with fraction to decimal conversion.  The activity is set up like a secret mission.  Students get their briefing on the mission (including a short description of how the conversion is performed) and must solve a series of problems to unlock secret doors and compartments.

Math Movie Network: Decimals : Mr. Avery's Classroom Blog - 0 views

  • how to add, subtract, and multiply decimals. We learned that when adding or subtracting decimals, the decimal points always need to line up. When we multiply decimals, the decimal points don’t need to line up.
  • How are adding/subtracting decimals different from multiplying decimals?* *When might you use addition, subtraction, or multiplication of decimals?*
  •
If this is part of your math standards, you have a great opportunity here to have your students comment on their blog with their answers (remember, first names only, and you can use the teacher's email address)
