This program provides a view of 150 years of American art as represented in The Phillips Collection. The works illustrate Phillips's taste and his enthusiasm for contemporary American artists, many of whom he knew personally and whose work he collected in depth.

       I'm upgrading my PC (by purchaing a NEW one - ouch!!) and my GIMP as well. The new, stable version for Windows is 2.4.2, with a prettier GUI. If English isn't your mother language and you prefer reading English like me, they have a solution for you on GIMP Talk. Go to C:\\Program Files\\GIMP-2.0\\lib\\locale and remove all the folders that do not start with en_ and then your GIMP will be ready to take off!

about illoz

illoz is a portfolio site for Illustrators that doubles as a very useful workspace for art directors. It's an experiment, of sorts. The idea is to establish a new and better way for art directors to find and interact with Illustrators. The program was created by two guys with an idea, the same two odd-balls that brought Drawger to life. More about illoz and why it's here.

illoz is an invitation only portfolio site for Illustrators. It's not for everyone and not everyone who wants a portfolio site here will be able to get one. Numbers are limited to keep the quality high. The cost is 150 American dollars per year and it's free to test drive for 60 days. The Aldrich is one of the few non-collecting contemporary art museums in the United States. Founded on Ridgefield's historic Main Street in 1964, the Museum enjoys the curatorial independence of an alternative space while maintaining the registrarial and art-handling standards of a national institution. This little dancing robot is as cute as cute can be. I had to post this video of it dancing to music. It was developed by scientist (Hideki Kozima and programmed by Marek Michalowski) as a learning aid for children. The design of Keepon is very simple, just two eyes and a button nose It will certainly be a big hit when it goes onto sale in 2010.

The Austin Museum of Digital Art (AMODA) is a non-profit institution that promotes access to and appreciation of digital art. Currently AMODA is a nomadic institution, holding exhibitions, showcases, lectures, youth programs and other events at various locations around Austin, often in collaboration with other arts and educational organizations. Ultimately, AMODA is envisioned as a permanent venue for digital art -- a world class art museum in downtown Austin, open to the public. This looks like a good book. I think it's important to have information like this on hand when one is dealing with bureaucratic bodies intent on narrowing or cutting art programs. Art making and education is tied in a very important way to our cognitive growth and development as human beings.
