The pieces that this site is perhaps most notable for are the mirrors, sometimes made of things that are not naturally reflective. For example: the wooden mirror, which, taking the image from a videoacamera, activates selected actuators, causing some of the wooden panels on a display to tilt downward. Those panels, appearing darker because they are now in shadow, create the darkened region of a mechanically created, pixelated moving image of the person standing before the "mirror". In the artist's own words, "Rozin creates installations and sculptures that have the unique ability to change and respond to the presence and point of view of the viewer". That's a great collection. Bantjes' is genius like all of her work. Ian - I like the combination of light and dark in yours. It has a very contemporary feel, but I also see some influences like Art Nouveau at work in it. Do you like Art Nouveau?

To cewsom: I do like Art Nouveau, especially the organic patterns. Glad that like this design (I put lots of thoughts in this, obviously), just like most of my customers. :P The combination of light and dark, including the colors, helps to create a certain mood. I hope it arouses some excitement without being excessive and over dispersive. Actually this design is based on my latest digital work, in which I tried to adopt and experiment some elements (colors, curves, etc.) I never used before.

Yesterday I came across a slightly mysterious website - a collection of Polaroids, one per day, from March 31, 1979 through October 25, 1997. There's no author listed, no contact info, and no other indication as to where these came from. So, naturally, I started looking through the photos. I was stunned by what I found. In 1979 the photos start casually, with pictures of friends, picnics, dinners, and so on. Kazunori Asada used visual filters to see how the paintings looked to the colorblind. The experiment produced some interesting results and musings: Was van Gogh partially color vision deficiency (anomalous trichromat)? Perhaps using a strong color vision deficiency (dichromat) simulation was the wrong approach. How about carrying out the simulation by removing the middle portion of normal color vision, maybe then I could see van Gogh's pictures in a better light? The color choices for van Gogh's popular paintings seem less out there with the filters. The greens in the sky of Starry Night, for example turn to yellows.
