Parents and guardians - 0 views

This is a good place for parents to look for information when searching for quality child care. You can access a child care options calculator which will help families examine their financial situation both with and without child care. Families can get an idea of their monthly budget and how child care will impact that budget. Find Alex the Bear on this website, who will help your child with the transition to child care. This website also explains what Child Care Resource and Referral can do for you and will help with finding a local CCR&R. This website is also a great resource for anyone interested in becoming a child care provider. I would use this website in my research for a parent or provider.

  • Upload and share your PowerPoint presentations, Word documents and Adobe PDF Portfolios on SlideShare. Share publicly or privately. Add audio to make a webinar.
  •
Since we use Google Docs at our school, we can accomplish a lot of the same things that slideshare does, but I still think it's a valuable site for making collaborative slide presentations and sharing them online.
  •
I use Slideshare quite often in order to take a PowerPoint presentation that I used at a face-to-face professional development session and place it for viewing on a website. It's quick and easy. I usually have a website for most of the professional development presentations I do with resources, etc. and so this just makes it very quick and easy to add the PP that I used also.

It would be wrong of me if I did not include a history website.  This site provides up to 200 videos about the American Experience.  You can view the videos by time periods and there are lesson plans that can accompany the videos.  This is a great way to supplement learning and make it come to life.

Doing What Works - Home - 1 views

This website has research-based practices and translates it into practical tools to improve classroom instruction. You can learn what works, understand the research, see what works, see it actually in action many times in the classroom through video, and do what works, download tools that can support the work. This is an awesome sight for educators! This site has many things that teachers could use to learn about and hone in on their instructional practices. It is a great springboard for learning and then using some web 2.0 tools to provide opportunities to collaborate with teachers either within their districts or in other districts would be a powerful learning tool.

Web 2.0 Guru - 0 views

As I was searching for some tools that I could post, I came across this website. I thought it looked interesting because it have some of the same tools we are using plus some others. As I looked a little deeper... WOW I have always wanted to go more indepth with my vocabulary that I teach, and if you teach vocab, you need to check out Vocabulary Activities. I wanted a way to present a new word and then show the students all the related forms with the same root. Visuwords (http://www.visuwords.com) does just that. I can use it; the students can use it. And it also breaks related words down by part of speech. There are so many other options a teacher could use.
