As I was searching for some tools that I could post, I came across this website. I thought it looked interesting because it have some of the same tools we are using plus some others. As I looked a little deeper... WOW I have always wanted to go more indepth with my vocabulary that I teach, and if you teach vocab, you need to check out Vocabulary Activities. I wanted a way to present a new word and then show the students all the related forms with the same root. Visuwords (http://www.visuwords.com) does just that. I can use it; the students can use it. And it also breaks related words down by part of speech. There are so many other options a teacher could use.

Language Arts Journal Writing. Classroom newspapers. Autobiographies.Insert student photos in a biographical poem. A great way to start off the year and get to know your students. Demonstrate vocabulary, emotions, compare/contrast. Use a photo as a prompt for narrative or descriptive writing. Students take pictures of each other and import them into a word processing document for an "About the Author" page in a student anthology. .Use the digital camera to take photos of students then incorporate the photos into interviews written by other students in the class. (Students are assigned someone to interview and write about.)

This is an online music dictionary that is easy to navigate, uses examples, and is hyperlinked in each definition.

This is a technology way to study languages, vocabulary, or almost anything. I use this in my classes to make up flash cards and study games that kids can log on to and do. Helps them study for quizzes and tests.
