Overnight, websites belonging to the FBI, Department of Justice, RIAA, MPAA, Universal and others were struck by a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack.

Throughout the year I try to share resources and information with you that I think will be helpful for you. Often times these resources will include links to free eBooks that we make available on a variety of topics. Today, I thought I would post a large collection of eBooks for you here so that you can find them in one place and consume them as you see fit. Also, if you find this list helpful, please share it with your peers and colleagues so that they too can benefit from these resources.

Can We Fix Computer Science Education in America?

Doug, thank you for the link to the article. I just spent a few days in Boston with CS Educators at the App Inventor Summit and the issues discussed in this article now make more sense to me. The CS Principles project (csprinciples.org) looks like a huge step in the right direction. It "could" become the foundation of introductory CS courses in high school (AP) and in post-secondary. They have run 2 years of pilot courses and it looks promising. The next generation AP exam will likely be language agnostic - designs will likely be expressed in pseudocode and the course really engages with students (not just programming).

Computer science education prepares students for the engaging and high-paying computing careers that are being created every day. Hundreds of thousands will be created in the next decade. In fact, the current pipeline of computing graduates will fill only 52 percent of the projected over 1.4 million job openings in computing by 2018. Get ready for the future!

Calvin Carl "Kelly" Gotlieb, CM, FRSC (born March 27, 1921) is a Canadian professor and computer scientist who has been called the "Father of Computing" in Canada. He is the Professor Emeritus in Computer Science at the University of Toronto.

Interesting fact is that Professor Gotlieb's PhD type is still classified by the military.
