Open-source Microcontroller in Education by Steve Dickie - Kickstarter - 0 views

  •
The open source hardware platform Arduino has been the central platform of my electronics class since the beginning of 2008 and I've learned a lot in that time. I use the Arduino to teach some basic programming and introductory electronics concepts. This course led me to create a website (http://electronics.flosscience.com/) to help support my students as well as others who might want to use this platform in education. Now I'm ready for the next step.

I checked out their website and I find it a bit of a joke. First off, their Introduction to CS includes topics like PL/SQL which is proprietary. Oracle states that their Introduction to CS workshop is free and then when you go to enrol it is only available in China, India, and Brazil. I was expecting them to offer something like the FREE course that Stanford offered this spring by Nick Parlante.

I wish they had more details on the website, and how much the premium account will cost. It would be nice to see an academic discount, or that they make it free for teachers & students.
