Welcome to the Programming Dojo. This is a place where you can learn more about programming and programming languages. Programming is both an art and a science. It involves interpretation, abstraction and creation, as well as quantitive analysis, mathematics and algorithmic thinking. Don't expect too much too quickly. Just like many things in life, good things take time.

Alice is an engaging, introductory programming environment for the creation of animations and games using 3D models. Alice features a drag-and-drop interface that eliminates the frustration of syntax errors for beginning programmers.  This list is for educators who are teaching with Alice or who are considering teaching with Alice (either 2.2 or 3). The purpose of this list is to provide and quick and easy way to ask questions, post ideas and nifty assignments, and generally support all members of the Alice teaching community. 

DokuWiki is a standards compliant, simple to use Wiki, mainly aimed at creating documentation of any kind. It is targeted at developer teams, workgroups and small companies. It has a simple but powerful syntax which makes sure the datafiles remain readable outside the Wiki and eases the creation of structured texts. All data is stored in plain text files - no database is required.

Since 2007 Lero - the Irish Software Engineering Research Centre has been running an Education and Outreach Program to encourage students to discover and learn about computing and software development. We have developed Scratch lesson plans, to teach software development to students. Scratch is a visual programming language that makes it easy to create interactive stories, animations, games, music, and art and share these creations on the web.

Lazarus is a free and open source development tool for the Free Pascal compiler, which is also free and open source. The Lazarus IDE is a stable and feature rich programming environment for creating standalone graphical and console applications. Lazarus currently runs on Linux, Mac OS X and Win32 and provides a customizable source editor and visual form creation environment along with a package manager, debugger and complete GUI integration with the Free Pascal compiler.
