Listen, create and share FREE geolocalized audioguides.
  •
Via Judy "I just ran across a website that is a really exciting tool for anyone reflecting on their foreign travel or interested in practicing their foreign language.Woices  www.woices.com is a website that gives you the ability to create free geolocalized audioguides. Sample guides are:* a walk in Valencia http://woices.com/walk/33 in Spanish * a walk in London London http://woices.com/walk/13 in English. Students could create their own tours of places they have been. Woices walks you through the process and provides the map, a place to upload your own photos and the ability to record 10 minutes of audio at each stop. When you're done you can embed the production in any web page and download the audio file.It creates a very nice product and one that others would want to listen to and learn from.If you know someone not listed here who you think might enjoy this, please pass it on."

researcher at the National Education Policy Center, said research has so far failed to prove that online instruction is superior to face-to-face education. Jeff Hunt, who runs Indian Prairie's online program, said such critiques are a caution to those who want to expand Internet-based learning. "We have to do this well because we can't do it over," he said. "(Poor results) will verify to critics that there's no quality there." Nine secret tricks for Google services | Web | Working Mac | Macworld - 0 views

  • Another feature of the Google Docs Viewer Website mentioned above is that you can create your own URLs that point to files online, and send them to others so they can instantly view the file by clicking the link. Just make the first part of the URL read as follows: http://docs.google.com/viewer?url= Then add the URL of the file straight afterwards, including the http:// component. If I wanted somebody to be able to view the Microsoft Word file located at http://keirthomas.com/dump/testfile.docx, for example, I'd send them the following URL: http://docs.google.com/viewer?url=http://keirthomas.com/dump/testfile.docx

Overcoming the email obstacle for student Google Docs accounts | Digital Learning Envir... - 0 views

  •
The problem is that to have a Google Docs account, you need an email address.  You need it to verify your Google Docs account.  Most elementary and some middle school students don't have email addresses and their parents may not want them to have one.  Mailcatch.com is a disposable email address service.  You create an email address by just using it.  Then you go to mailcatch.com and retrieve any emails sent to it.  In a few hours, the email disappears.  You can't send email from it and you can return to it to get recovery password emails.

Welcome to the inaugural issue of the AAEEBL ePortfolio Review (AePR)! Designed to provide space for emerging thinking about ePortfolio research and practice, as well as a publication opportunity for those working in and with ePortfolio, the AePR focuses on timely, important topics written by leaders in the field. The articles may focus on a current controversy in our community that perhaps cannot be quickly or expeditiously addressed through a careful research process or on specific topics of interest to the wider ePortfolio community (for instance, assessment, high impact practices, etc.). As such, we welcome articles that are initial reports on research, case studies of ePortfolio practices and pedagogies, and think-pieces that move the field forward. We want to ensure that the AePR is relevant to you and your work with ePortfolios so we also welcome ideas for future issue themes and topics - let us know if you have ideas!

Crowdsourcing contingent salary data | Inside Higher Ed - 0 views

  •
It started with an announcement in February that a University of Georgia instructor would start a crowdsourcing project to find out more about working conditions and salaries of adjuncts. Last month, a graduate student at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro announced that she was attempting something similar for graduate student employees. Both projects are attempts at gathering information -- on the salaries of adjuncts and graduate students -- where rigorously researched data is difficult to come by.
