We could use this with our younger ones as well as long as we let their parents know and they do not choose to opt their child out.

google docs famous author demo - 0 views

  •
Google Docs is one of those things that we tend to use daily but don't get the full experience. I know that I personally don't use all of its capabilities, especially when it comes to collaboration. I end up using it like a flat Word document. Google has pushed out a pretty cool demo, which invites you to collaborate with some of the greatest writers of all time. Kind of. A "famous writer" will start typing and then it's your turn. Once you've typed in the next line, the writer takes over. It's kind of fun.

The inklewriter lets you write as you play, branching the story with choices, and then linking those stories back together again. It keeps track of which paths you've finished, and which still need to be written. There's no set-up, no programming, no drawing diagrams. Just start writing and see where it takes you. Oh, and it's free to use. And once written, you can share your stories with whoever you like.

Extreme Speed Booking:Using Technology to help kids love reading - 0 views

  •
Lissa Davies 31 Jan 12 03:28:44 The idea behind the site is to introduce students to a variety of books and form classroom book groups. How does Extreme Speed Booking work? A whole lot like speed dating. Students spend a little time with each book and then rate them accordingly with "I want to read more", "Interesting", "Not for me", or "I've already read". Students can also make a note of how interested they are in reading the book (maybe a 1-10 scale)? This process introduces students to a variety of books, genres and authors. Students may come across titles and authors they wouldn't otherwise find. It also helps teachers form classroom book groups that are of high-interest and investment to students because they had input. iLearn Technology
