There's nothing better than playing with an art program on an interactive whitboard and literally drawing with your finger. It really works like a massive graphics tablet. And there are some excellent, free, online drawing packages. Some are quite simple, and others really mimic real-world art materials.

More and more websites are coming online to give students the ability to unleash their creativity in new and innovative ways. From abstract art to pointillism, students now can click and draw their way into original works of art, and today's freebie gives you a great list of places to begin.

I hope that this week's Sharing Is Caring examples have inspired you to begin sharing some of your knowledge and resources with other teachers who are working so hard to make a difference in the lives of others. By making an animal shaped box out of clay, students honor both the vast diversity of Africa's animal world, and also create a functional work of art! After choosing a favorite African animal, students will hand build a clay box with lid.

Wire Sculpture makes a great lesson to teach with no examples, no photographs, and no demonstrations - only some good open questions, careful verbal explanations, careful observation, and plenty of preliminary hands on practice and artistic thinking. We CAN encourage thinking habits that imitate the artistic process - not imitate another artist's work.
