On Tuesday, the Supreme Court ruled that it could not prohibit chargesheeted lawmakers from contesting elections, and left the decision to the Parliament. However, the apex court ruled that political parties would have to publicize the list of cases pending against their candidates, if any.

The Supreme Court delivered two judgments yesterday, i.e., passed a verdict on the disqualification of MPs and MLAs against whom a charge-sheet has been filed and dismissed a plea seeking to bar lawmakers from practising in courts of law across India. The SC is set to deliver four more key judgments today, including the constitutional validity of Aadhaar.

DERA GAZI KHAN: At least five people were killed and many others wounded on Wednesday as a powerful blast ripped through political office of ruling PML-N lawmaker, Samaa reported. According to our correspondent, the blast occurred at dera (local political office) of MNA Sardar Amjad Khosa in Taunsa Sharif town of Punjab.

ISLAMABAD: Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani on Monday refused to accept the resignations of lawmakers belonging to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), citing relevant laws. He was giving a ruling on the resignations tendered by the MQM Senators on the grounds that the party was being "victimized' in the garb of on-going operation against criminal elements in Karachi.
