I thought this list of research tips from U.S. News is although very short, it's also very effective in describing key things to focus on during research. I especially though that #2 was a great way to look at your sources when doing the actual writing part of the paper.

I was reading some of these when I was looking for something to post this week. I thought this list was very useful and I will be using some of these tips for our paper!

Purdue OWL is always a site I visit when I have questions about writing. It is also super helpful when I have questions about citations. Here is "Writing a Research Paper." It may come in handy during this segment.

I use this site often for research papers considering it is usually the expressed form to write a research paper in. It helps my writing go more smoothly and flow better in text.

I always use this website to make sure I'm doing MLA format right.

This is what happens when someone decides to skew their evidence or research findings a little bit. Not a pretty sight. I am sure we wont be sent to court but it is important to keep out findings as they are and not skew them.

This article is interesting because, while it is an article from a newspaper produced right on campus, it is a different type of source than we usually look for while researching our topics. Instead of searching for national newspapers or articles from academic journals, finding smaller publications can be useful in research. This local perspective on subcultures talks about how dressing a certain way can signal what kind of culture you are from. I believe while we are all mid-research on our topics, we know our subcultures have a certain uniform they can be identified with.

This short video is helpful to know how to organize your thoughts more effectively. It points out the basics of how to pose questions in your research so can narrow down your search and find information more effectively.

I thought these were cool tips that could help us throughout our journey with this essay.

Some of these tips were really interesting! I might have to try out the ones for when I need some inspiration!

British Naturism is the representative body for Naturists in the UK. I want to share my subculture with the group and some of the research that I am doing. Just a heads up, there are naked people on this site! If you want to know a little more about naturism, take a look. Under the campaigning drop down tab you can find what Naturists are all about. I think many people are grossed out or laugh at nudists but as I research them I am realizing that there are many things that they stand for that I agree with. Check it out!

I thought it was nice to see how to write a research paper from a different point of view. This site also provides an itinerary for the amount of work you should put forth, of course it is not adjusted to our interval we have to work with so that must be taken into consideration. I thought this was helpful.

There are many types of sources that you could use in your papers (journal articles, books, newspapers, interviews, etc.), but not all of them are good sources. Good sources give you reliable, accurate information based on real research. I thought this was interesting, seeing as we are all looking for reliable resources for our explanatory essays.

I liked how this website provided specific examples of good and bad sources.

Here are some tips to help determine the credibility of a source, like the exercise we did in class Tuesday. This will come in handy as we are researching for our subcultures. Also, this website wikihow is a content farm like Yahoo! Voices, which we also talked about in class.

MLA (Modern Language Association) style is most commonly used to write papers and cite sources within the liberal arts and humanities. This resource, updated to reflect the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers (7th ed.) I figured this will help when people start making their works cited page!

This was really helpful! I will for sure be looking back at this when I am writing my paper and citing sources.

Competitive researchers and scientists take it too far sometimes and make a claim based on little or fragmented evidence after a tiny sample of the population is tested. Many of these claims are being proven false.

Information literacy skills are used for academic purposes, such as research papers and group presentations. They're used on the job-the ability to find, evaluate, use and share information is an essential skill. This is the website all about information literacy.
