The number of all voters who would reject Obama based on his race, and the number more likely to vote for him because of his race, is about the same. There's apparently more than one reason for a racist to vote for Barack Obama; An abysmal economy during which the white candidate's campaign has seemed disorganized and erratic, common sense or shared values can prevail over gut fears about the color of a candidate's skin. People can look past skin color while acting in their own best interests. For whatever reason or reasons -- the economy, healthcare, the Iraq war, Sarah Palin -- some racists are determined to vote for the black guy over the white one.  Racism will remain an elusive, unquantifiable force, one whose influence we can't tease out from among the many other conflicting factors that will determine how Americans vote.

This is a video of a talk that Lawrence Lessig (Professor, Stanford Law School) gave for an unnamed organization. In his talk, Lessig provides a powerful and piercing analysis on the impact that legal restrictions on the re/use of media resources has on creativity and cultural production. During his talk, Lessig shows some remarkably creative mash-up videos on YouTube to exemplify the kind of creativity/cultural production that is possible through ubiquitous digital media, yet is considered copyright violation, for example, in the eyes of Warner Brothers Music Group. Ironically, the organization that hosted the talk received a notice from Warner Bros Music after posting a video of the Lessig's talk on YouTube, which, according to Lessig's blog, "objected to its being posted on copyright grounds." Warner Brother Music Group has implemented content-id algorithms (i.e., technology that detects the digital "fingerprint" of corporate-"owned" copyrighted works) through media hosting services, including YouTube, FaceBook, and others. When the video of Lessig's talk was posted, it was 'dusted' for fingerprints of WBMG copyrighted works. The detection system identified the soundtracks in the YouTube videos Lessig showed, as materials to which they held copyright. Both the video of Lessig's talk and the blog conversation regarding WBMG's objection are must-see resources.

Two days ago Stephen Wolfram gave an early preview of his "computational knowledge engine" Wolfram Alpha at a talk at Harvard University. The video of the whole presentation (1h 45min long) is here above, while down below you can find some highlights I transcripted from his speech.

I don't want to be bothered with heavy reading and just want to be amused." a spirit that, as somebody in one of the sites bookmarked above argues, Stumbleupon's business model gives the company and its management a perverse short term incentive to encourage. But can one encourage impatience and then, moments later, hope that impatience will suddenly vanish the moment a visitor reaches a sponsor's site? Or does behavior, once reinforced, tend to linger? Does the company really expect those sponsors to not notice that their bottom line isn't being helped, just because they hope it will, and assume that it must?

Google Latitude is a location-aware mobile app developed by Google. Latitude allows a mobile phone user to allow certain other people on his or her Gmail contact list to track where he or she is. These people can track the user (or more accurately, his or her phone) on Google Maps via their own iGoogle accounts. The user can control the accuracy and details of what each of the other users can see - an exact location can be allowed, or it can be limited to identifying the city only.

Actor Ashton Kutcher recently challenged CNN to be the first to 1 million followers on the micro-blogging site, had more than 959,360 Twitter followers as of 1 p.m. ET Thursday. CNN's breaking-news feed had about 12,000 more Twitter fans, with some 968,000. But the real intresting part is the Ashton reaches one million fans on his Facebook fan page while am writing this post Ashton has1,037 ,940 fans on his Facebook fan page.

Rodney Bradford, a 19 year old teenager was arrested for robbery. The twist is, he had an alibi. Rodney typed in a message at the time the crime was committed on his Facebook page, from a computer in his father's apartment in Harlem.

His Twitter page has been snowballing in numbers, with more than 700,000 followers following his hilarious tweets. Apparently, success didn't just stop there.

Kylie Jenner just took showering love on her beloved's birthday to an altogether different level by gifting a shining new Lamborghini to Travis Scott on his 28th birthday. Demon Slayer: "Blade of Demon Destruction") is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotōge.
