Engulfing candlesticks in scalping setups? - 2 views

#1 davinard on 06 Jun 25Is it realistic to use engulfing candlestick patterns for scalping, or is it too noisy on lower timeframes? I'm experimenting with M1 and M5 charts and occasionally see engulfing formations, but I'm not sure how reliable they are for fast trades.

I focus on structure breaks - like if price reclaims a range low and prints a clean bullish engulfing right after, I'll enter with a tight SL. I don't use it alone though - I layer in order flow, volume spikes, and time of day. For example, near NY or London open, engulfing candles tend to have more weight. On the flip side, during dead hours, it's usually just noise. So the pattern's valid, but only if context supports it.
