Mobile touch interface framework - 1 views

  •
This is a really sleek looking top-layer framework specific for mobile touch interaction. The Art of Manliness just launched their new website, I suggest visiting http://artofmanliness.com on both your desktop and iPad to see the difference.

Vischeck Website - Working with Color-Blindness - 2 views

  •
A handy site on which you can view your own files in relation to the various types of color blindness. In my experience with the site, the option to view your images online is better than the option to download the plug-ins. The plug-ins kept crashing for me. But your experience may be different.

Evaluating website accessibility part 3, Digging Deeper | 456 Berea Street - 0 views

  • There are no clearly defined rules for which characters to use as title separators. However, document titles should definitely not contain punctuation used for decorative purposes, for instance “:: Title ::” or “…== Title ==…”.

Lamson Library » Resources By Subject - 0 views

I realy like some of what Plymouth State is doing to allow browsing by LC subject. If you click, for examle, Sociology, you are taken to a sort of socioloy portal that contains links to course guidelines, relevant databases, pre-populated searches of the OPAC, reference materials, websites, and the sociology librarian's contact info. Click on a pre-populated OPAC search and you are able to broaden/narrow the search by clicking tags as well as bookmark or choose from RSS options.

I don't think this would ever fly for UTL but it might be worthwhile to think more along these lines when deciding what content is important to keep.

The Royal Marines / Royal Navy Website - 2 views

  •
We are not the demographic of this site. So, even if the topic doesn't appeal to all of us, the success of the site is well documented. Since the site's creation, the Royal Marines and Royal Navy have seen huge increases in qualified candidates and in meeting their recruitment goals. The case study of this site dealt with two main issues brought from the Client: 1) LOTS OF INFORMATION: One of the major successes of this site is that the target audience said they felt they were given all the information they needed to make their decision on joining the Royal Marines. 2) INTERACTIVITY: The site is PACKED with interactive elements: tests, maps, checklists, etc. ALSO OF NOTE: Gotta love the "English manner" in the way they tell you about cookies from their site (at the top of the homepage when you first arrive at the site). Click on "More About Cookies" and see how much info they provided.

Sketching For Better Mobile Experiences - 1 views

  •
An interesting article on using sketches in the collaboration within a team. While this article concentrates on mobile solutions, sketching can be used for websites as well. A pull-quote from the article: "Learning from sketches is based largely on the ambiguous nature of their representation. (Sketches) do not specify everything and lend themselves to, and encourage, various interpretations that were not consciously integrated into them by their creator."

SurveyMonkey CEO Gets Home By 5:30 PM - 0 views

  •
Thought the Team would enjoy. Very few people on their death bed have said, "I should have spent more time at work." FROM THE WEBSITE: SurveyMonkey has been profitable from almost day one and refuses to go public. SurveyMonkey has done all of this while creating a culture that enables the company's CEO, Dave Goldberg, to leave the office by 5:30 p.m.
