dioscouri.com - JUGA - 0 views

  •
Group access extension: JUGA is Joomla component that allows you additional control over what content is available to which users. It is NOT A HACK (like JACL); JUGA installs and uninstalls *easily* as a component. To activate/de-activate it, install and publish/unpublish the JUGA Mambot. After installing JUGA, merely synchronize it's table with your site's components and content. Then, define which items each group has access to. After assigning users to JUGA groups, activate the Mambot and voila!

Nir Eyal's slides on how to build habit-forming products. Really interesting talk about the psychological aspects of design and how to scratch our users' itches.

  •
A good article with several useful RSS readers. Most of them rely on the user having a Google reader account already setup.

Scrolling Left to Right - 2 views

  •
In this blog post by a Microsoft developer, there are examples of scrolling on a single webpage by moving left to right (vs. scrolling up and down). Also, some main navigational buttons and menus are now on the RIGHT side of the layout instead of the long-used left side of the layout location for these elements. I believe this is an example of the influence of touch screens on tablets, phones, and computers affecting the long held paradigm of left side menu navigation. The gesture navigation of touch screens is making another mark on design and layouts.

Insight into user's issues regarding pay vs free content. I thought this was a good article that explained the future direction in which media providers have to look. Not everything can be free.
