When we talk about eating disorders we think about just a few of them like anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. We think that these eating disorders are most common ones. But we ignore one more very common disorder known as pica. Pica is a disorder in which the sufferer feels cravings to eat inedible things like clay, sand, chalk, hair, plaster, cigarette ashes, soap, dirt, animal feces, ice cubes, pebbles, paint, paper or glue. Usually this disorder victimizes children under six and pregnant women. If adults or teenagers develop this disorder, it goes itself within a month. But if it persists for long time, the sufferer needs to pay good attention to it.
