The amount of data is massive. Honestly, I already regret choosing such a long time span for my first research and I could've just focused on 5 years. But I've started it now. I figured it'd be nice to have visuals too, not just written data and stats.

If you're doing research, you really need satellite data. I don't even know if there's another way. There are special archives where you can see photos of the same area over the years. If you're doing it through a university, you should have access to those archives.

Putting a project like this together can definitely be a lot of work, but I think you're doing something really valuable. And honestly, this kind of university research project can already make a real difference if done well. If you need satellite data, use the eos.com/landviewer/ platform. I think it's the best option to research a specific region and do comparison analysis using past images. Sure, it's not the cheapest tool, but from what I remember, they offer grants or free access for students, so check their site for details.
