Watermark removal - 9 views

#1 tbes50203 on 09 Dec 24Hi everyone! I recently encountered a problem with watermarks on photos. While working with images for a personal project, I noticed that many of the photos I wanted to use were protected by watermarks, which made my job very difficult. Well, I came across a program called DeWatermark that promises to remove these watermarks using artificial intelligence. I haven't tried it yet, but I was wondering if any of you have used this program? Does it really work effectively? And most importantly, how does it remove watermarks without losing image quality?

#2 billyjohn on 09 Dec 24I have used https://dewatermark.ai/ to work with images a couple of times and I can share my experience. Overall, I liked the program, but there are a few important points to consider. The program uses artificial intelligence to remove watermarks, and at first glance it works quite well. It is important to note that DeWatermark does not simply erase the watermark, but tries to restore the part of the image that was covered by the watermark. It does not simply remove the text, as happens in some older applications, but tries to "restore" the image. However, the result depends on the specific image. On photos with bright, saturated colors, where the watermark is simply superimposed on a regular background, the program copes well - I myself have restored photos several times and got almost perfect results. But on more complex images, where the watermark, for example, partially covers a face or some complex pattern, the result may not be so good. In such cases, artificial intelligence sometimes cannot accurately restore all the details. This is normal, because removing a watermark is a difficult task for any algorithm, and it is not always possible to do it without errors. In addition, it is important to remember that the quality of the original image greatly affects the final result. The better the original photo, the higher the chances of high-quality removal. In the case of low resolution or heavily compressed files, the process may not be as effective as desired.

I once tried to remove a watermark from a photo where it was superimposed on a complex background - and yes, as User2 noted, the result was not perfect. On simple images, where the watermark is on a plain background, the result was much better. Personally, I use this tool for photo editing, but I always check what the result will be on a specific image. Ideally, for complex images it is better to turn to professional editors, but if you need a quick result, DeWatermark will do just fine.
