Are interlocking walkways safe in icy weather? - 5 views

#1 blandry123 on 17 May 25Safety was our top priority when choosing a walkway design since we've got seniors living with us. We chose a matte-texture paver after checking https://oakshs.ca/walkway-interlocking/ to see what types work best in cold climates. A rougher surface gives better grip, and they showed examples with anti-slip coatings that can be added. We also slightly angled the path to avoid water pooling, which freezes. I've noticed that with regular snow removal and occasional sanding, the interlocking surface stays safer than poured concrete in most cases. Still, planning the drainage is key.
