    The concept of literacy is wide ranged, but Wikipedia's definition states that "literacy is the ability to read and write". With that into account not contributing technology, in partial, with the steady increase in literacy skills in today's youth would be incorrect. There many reasons that technology has and can increase literacy skills. Those reasons are, but not limited to, the fact that technology alone can make learning, reading, and writing fun and have children. fully engaged that normally wouldn't have an interest in learning using conventional teaching and learning methods. It can also be critiqued to the learning style of the student to ensure overall effectiveness.In 2012, the U.S. Department of Education awarded $28 Million to boost literacy skills for low-Income students. U.S. Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan stated that "Literacy is the key to higher learning and a window to the world," "These grants will develop programs that help students cultivate skills that will boost achievement, carry them through adulthood and prepare them for success in our global economy."As with all technology, its appropriate use can benefit in today's method of teaching, and software developed to meet targeted learning objectives can surely increase overall literacy in today's youths of the digital world.
