The "Whole Language" Approach: Teaching Reading - 1 views

  •
Hello! I want to share with you this blog entry about the top-down processing of language. "Whole language" is a method of teaching children to read by recognizing words as whole pieces of language. Whole language is an approach to teaching reading and writing which differs in many ways from the traditional system in which most of us learned to read and write. Proponents of the whole language philosophy believe that language should not be broken down into letters and combinations of letters and "decoded." Instead, they believe that language is a complete system of making meaning, with words functioning in relation to each other in context. Suggestopedia - 6 views

Here you can read an article about Suggestopedia. It Talks about the approach, describes it and talks about the benefits that It has to our pupils. It's interesting to remind some theoretical content and see if they can be useful for our future practice.

I think this is a great learning method for students. The affective side of learning is not in opposition to the cognitive side and when both are used together, the learning process can be constructed on a firmer foundation.

Storytelling | Benefits of Storytelling to Children | Story Telling to Kids - 2 views

  •
Hi class: This is a about Storytelling. Storytelling is an art that has mental, social and educational benefits on children. People of all ages love stories. Children are great fans of stories and love to listen to them. Storytelling literally means reading out stories to them or just telling a story from the memory to them. I think this is an important resource for teaching EFL.
