Armen Jigarkhanyan, born on October 3, 1935 in Yerevan, is one of the most popular Armenian and Soviet actors. He starred in dozens of films and provided the voice for many cartoon characters. Even during his school years, he became interested in theater and cinema. He worked as assistant cameraman at "Armenfilm" studios in 1953-1954. In 1958, Jigarkhanyan graduated from the Yerevan Fine Arts and Theatre Institute, course of A. Gulakyan. Tourists are interested to walk to a small, but picturesque Lake Akna (also Aknalich and Aygerlich), located 35 km west of Echmiatsin, on Hoktemberyan highway in Armavir Province. The museum was opened in 1967, during the life of the Master, on the initiative of the Government of the Republic of Armenia. Basically it consisted of 50 works donated to the museum of Saryan. Subsequent replenishments of the collection allow now to view the works of all periods of the painter. Also, there are presented works of the famous series - "Mountains", "Armenia", "Midday Silence", "My Yard", "Aragats", "Yerevan". One of the favorite themes of the painter were flowers, he always painted them, both in the days of sadness and in the days of joy. Saryan also worked in monumental painting and in the sphere of theatrical design.

The museum was founded in 1972; the building is designed by architects G. Aramyan and J. Torosyan. The use of cylindrical volumes elevated above the surface for the formation of the exposition area, the unusualness of the bonds of these volumes within the structure itself, makes the building of the museum nearly the only one in Yerevan, completed in the traditions of neo-construction.

The Cascade is a monumental architectural composition, it was originally conceived by the architect Alexander Tamanyan (1878-1936). Tamanyan desired to connect the northern and central parts of the city-the historic residential and cultural centers of the city-with a vast green area of waterfalls and gardens, cascading down one of the city's highest promontories. It offers spectacular views of Mount Ararat and the city center. The Cascade is linked with the Opera Square, its horizontal segment of 200 meters length begins at the monument to A. Tamanyan. It is a unique complex with its massive white steps with fountains that ascend through Tamanyan street towards Haghtanak Park (Victory Park). The front gardens display sculptures from the Gerard L.
