Popular provider of cheapest air tickets in India, SpiceJet is benefiting from the three-day discounted airfare in the last few days. Incidentally, it was offering a discount of 75 per cent on the last minute fares on selected routes. This sparked a steep rise in the booking of tickets, which in turn, boosted the market shares of the Kalanithi Maran promoted low-cost carrier (LCC).

SpiceJet, the Sun Group aviation foray, has become a pioneer of flash sales in the current fiscal. It has been offering extensive promotional schemes since January this year and has proved its competence in providing cheapest air tickets to its passengers.

The domestic aviation sector recently witnessed a sudden offer by most popular names in the industry. Some of the popular carriers like SpiceJet, IndiGo, Air India and GoAir were offering cheap air tickets for a limited period, which led to a mad rush among common people.

There was quite a hullabaloo in domestic aviation industry regarding the discounted ticket prices by most carriers. As a result, people could book tickets at lowest airfare as compared to the standards that they have been following in the last few years.

In recent months, the term - price war - in Indian aviation has been grabbing the headline space more often than not with airlines making a beeline to woo customers with their various domestic flight offers.
