Red Zambala on 01 Nov 12Barceloneta was originally planned by engineer Prospero de Verboom in 1719, to accommodate the inhabitants of La Ribera neighbourhood who had lost their homes, demolished by Filip V, the king of Spain, to build the Citadel. The neighbourhood is built in a triangular form with one side along the Mediterranean beach and corners at the Port Vell (Old Port), new Olympic Port and train station France.
