Any way investors look at it, almost all signs are pointing south right now. Current economic numbers and charts agree…the market looks weak and heavy.

The blue-chip Hang Seng Index plunged 300 points in the morning before a rally in Mainland markets helped erase most losses by mid-day. However selling pressure emerged in the afternoon.

Gains in the U.S. and Europe helped Hong Kong open higher, but weak Asian markets pulled Hong Kong blue chips down nearly 400 points around noon.

In volatile trading, the Nifty index today failed to sustain initial gains and ended almost flat on caution ahead of expiry of monthly derivative contracts and much-awaited Union Budget. Nifty moved up by 5 points to finish at 8767 after hitting the day's high of 8840. Thursday will see markets reacting to the Railway Budget as well as portfolio churning by investors as monthly derivative contracts expire.

Today, the 30-share index was trading at 25,965,went up 5 points or 0.02 per-cent. It reached a high of 26000.24 & a low of 25,953.25 in early morning trade.

Nifty futures updates : Today, Sensex was trading near 25,713, went up by 90 points or 0.35 per-cent. It attained a high of 25,766.76 & a low of 25,697.22 in early morning trade.

The S&P BSE Sensex overflow, by 100 points in today's trade, led by gains in Infosys, ICICI Bank, RIL, HDFC, Axis Bank, and Tata Motors.Click For Free nifty futures tips. The Nifty 50 was trading close to its resistance level of 7,400, supported by gains in pharma, IT,auto, realty, and FMCG stocks.

The 30-share index was trading at 24,590, up by 120 pts or 0.49 per-cent.
