Global Market Updates: Asian markets are trading on a positive today. At 7: 43 am (IST), Asian markets were trading higher. China's Shanghai Composite was up 0.33% or 7.41 points at 2,280.81. Markets ended with smart gains on Friday on cues from global pers. The Sensex added 357.72 points or 2.09% to 17,503.24. The U.S. stocks bolted higher on the back of surprisingly cheerful jobs report which activated a chain reaction by raising the buying interest that further pushed both the Dow Jones and S&P 500 to multi-month highs, while the NASDAQ Composite hit its greatest level in more than a decade.

The broader 50-share Nifty closed above 8600 for the first time since April 20. It closed up 84.25 points at 8,608.05.The 30-share BSE Sensex ended the day up 247.83 points, or 0.88 per cent, at 28,446.12. This was the highest close for the benchmark since April 17. Investors have seen in recent days that this market has shown the ability to generate wild swings up and down, whipsawing many investors and traders into oblivion.

For the week, China shares were not able to completely recover from the sharp drop caused by disheartening U.S. employment numbers last Friday.

Mike Turner believes that cash is king right now and if investors have to be in the market, be short in everything but gold. The market most likely has further to fall.

Healthy rebounds in European and U.S. markets and commodity prices ignited a sharp rally in Hong Kong amid increased turnover. However, heavy redemption pressure on mutual funds will make the rally hard to sustain.
