A potential end in sight for the conflict in Libya led shares of airline stocks higher in morning trading. By the end of the day though, higher oil prices brought the major carriers back to lows.
Shares of airlines across the board rose today after reports that capacity cutbacks may be the solution to waning profitability. The CEOs of Southwest and Delta were particularly vocal on the need for capacity paring.
