    In 1956, Bob Kane and Sheldon Moldoff decided Batman and Robin both needed female counterparts in order to stave off the gay rumors about these characters and voila Batwoman appeared, aka Kathy Kane (issue #233 in Detective Comics) for Batman and then in 1961 Batgirl, aka Betty Kane (issue #139 in the Batman comics) appeared as a sidekick for Batwoman. When Julius Swartz took over as editor both of these Batwoman and Batgirl characters were taken out and were replaced in 1967 by the Barbara Gordon 'Batgirl' (issue #359 in Detective Comics). But in this lens, we'll have a look at the wonderful actresses who have played 'Batgirl' over the years in the television series, movies and the animation of all the versions of Batman.

    Halloween is the one night of the year when you get to dress up and be someone else. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays of the year. I love to see the kids coming to the door in their cute little costumes. I love to see all the houses decorated up with the ghost, goblins and witches.I was always torn between wanting to stay at home and see all the kids come to the door and taking my kids out myself and watching them have a blast. So my sister and I took turns at it, one year I stayed home and she took the out, the next year we switched!

Because comic book superhero Batman is human and doesn't have any mystic powers like Superman, Spiderman or Wonder Woman, he has to rely on his brains and all the little toys that Lucius Fox has created for him, that's according to the Dark Knight, prior to Batman Returns and The Dark Knight it was always Alfred who was the computer brains behind all his gadgets and toys.     In 1938 Action Comics editors was looking for a new comic book superhero similar to Superman, Bob Kane and Bill Finger got together and created that new superhero, Batman! Well according to Bob Kane he had drawn a picture of what he thought the Caped Crusader should look like, however, Frank Foster has a different story. But alas in 1939 the first Batman comic was published and the rest is 'history'. One major difference between Superman and Batman however is the fact that Superman has super powers which comes from his Kryptonian background while Batman is mortal, a simple human being who depends on his 'awesome gadgets'. In this lens we'll look at who's actually played the Caped Crusader over the years on television and the big screen. The Caped Crusader will always be a work in progress, so check back from time to time to see what might be different or if there's a new Batman in the mist.

    This Super Villain was designed by Bob Kane and Bill Finger and was inspired by the Kool cigarettes mascot, a penguin with a top hat and cane. When the Penguin first came out, he was to be more of a "gentlemen thief" as opposed to psychotic like the rest of Batman's bad guys. There was also times when he tried to make it look like he was trying to go legit and help Batman instead of fighting him. But it never lasted.

Let's try it. Just open a page, maybe one of your old-school bookmarks or one of your new cat bookmarks, and find the information on that page you actually care about. Select that important text. Got it? Okay, now put your hemet on, 'cause this might blow your mind! Click the highlight icon on the Diigo toolbar. It's the one with the "T" on a page with a yellow highlighter. You will notice that the selected text gets a yellow background. This means that the text has been saved in your library, and as long as you have the Diigo add-on the text will be highlighted on the page! How's that for easy?   Now you've highlighted the text.
