A National Initiative on American History, Civics, and Service" seeks to fill the gaps that President Bush referred to in his 2002 Constitution Day remarks. The project revolves around one hundred milestone documents drawn primarily from the holdings of the National Archives-from the thousands of public laws, Supreme Court decisions, inaugural speeches, treaties, constitutional amendments, and other documents that have influenced the course of U.S. history. Educators and students can participate in this initiative in a number of ways, including integrating the documents into classroom instruction and participating in national competitions.

HyperHistory is an expanding scientific project presenting 3,000 years of world history with an interactive combination of synchronoptic lifelines, timelines, and maps.

The Geffrye Museum depicts the quintessential style of English middle-class living rooms. Its collections of furniture, textiles, paintings and decorative arts are displayed in a series of period rooms from 1600 to the present day. The displays lead the visitor on a walk through time, from the 17th century with oak furniture and panelling, past the refined splendour of the Georgian period and the high style of the Victorians, to 20th century modernity as seen in a 1930s flat, a mid-century room in 'contemporary style' and a late-20th century living space in a converted warehouse.

A web site that uses free computer games to put a fun spin on learning about government. iCivics.org is a rebranded, expanded version of an earlier site called OurCourts.org. Games on iCivics include "Do I Have A Right," in which the player runs a virtual firm specializing in constitutional law; "Executive Command," which offers a chance to play president; "Supreme Decision," about the Supreme Court; "Branches of Power," which gives the player control of all three branches of government; and "LawCraft," in which the player is a member of Congress. The iCivics program is based at Georgetown University Law School.

Battlefields Today Original Photos of the Civil War

The Go For Broke National Education Center collection contains well-designed, engaging, standards-aligned, creative lessons that teach students about the experiences of Japanese-Americans during World War II. Beyond the historical content that is covered through research, videos, and readings, students have the opportunity to discuss key values such as self-reliance, teamwork, and loyalty. Highlights include a role-playing activity about volunteering for the military, an experiential exercise on teamwork, and an animated movie with documentary footage of the rescue of the lost battalion.
