I am teaching persuasive language analysis and would like to encourage students to annotate effectively. Does anyone know any good software, or online tools, that can be used for annotation (apart from 'comments' in Word)?
I use Snagit software for annotations (www.techsmith.com/Snagit) or Notateit (www.notateit.com). They have some slight differences so it depends what you are attempting to do. Snagit is good for preplanned annotations while Notateit offers onscreen annotations in real time that can be saved.
Hope this helps.

The day I can convince my IT administrator that facebook is a great Web 2.0 tool will be a very happy one indeed!
Thanks all - I've decided to go with co-ment. The students found it clear and simple to use, and I like the way it keeps the annotations in a list down the side. It's not as 'organic' as sticky notes or mind-map type tools, but it means you can keep track easily as the examples stack up.

I know! To give them freedom, I made my life easier by ordering an essay on the service, I have blended learning so I have this right. The quality of work was worth every penny spent. While availability is always an issue, the quality of the work produced by this service is not compromised by the cost. I greatly appreciate the effort put into producing well-written and carefully crafted essays and believe that the cost was well worth the level of knowledge and professionalism displayed throughout the process. Being a writer helped me improve my grades, which was worth the investment.
