The 10th year Foundation Day celebrations on 29th September witnessed the eminent Guest of Honours, Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak and Dr. Bhaskar Chaterjee congratulating Fiinovation for its efforts in bridging the gap between the private and social sector.

The government of India, has mandated companies, to divert a small share, of their profits, into social and environment improvement projects. This diversion, or investment of profit, is commonly referred to as, corporate social responsibility, or CSR. Fiinovation explains the nuances of CSR in India.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) refers to a business practice that involves companies taking responsibility for their impact on society and the environment. It goes beyond profit-making objectives to include ethical considerations, environmental sustainability, and community welfare. CSR initiatives may encompass philanthropy, environmental sustainability efforts, and community development projects. By integrating CSR into their operations, companies aim to contribute positively to society while also enhancing their reputation, attracting customers, and long-term sustainability. Ultimately, CSR reflects a commitment to balancing profit-making activities with social and environmental responsibilities.

Fiinovation ensures simplicity and transparency while working on sustainability reporting. It has four elements i.e. Prepare, Connect, Define and Monitor. Sustainable development has been defined in many ways, but the most frequently quoted definition is from Our Common Future, also known as the Brundtland Report.

On March 20th, 2024, in Suakati, Keonjhar, Odisha, Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology partnered with Innovative Project Management Services and Upasana Education Trust for a significant CSR endeavor: the upgrade of a Primary Health Centre (PHC). The initiative aimed to revolutionize healthcare in the region by focusing on several key areas. Over a span of 14 months, the project witnessed remarkable progress.

As per the Companies Act 2013, CSR expenditure of a company cannot be claimed as a business expenditure. Watch the video for detailed information.

The calculation of average net profit for CSR expenditure must adhere to Section 198 of the Act and exclude items outlined in Rule 2(1)(h) of the Companies (CSR Policy) Rules, 2014. For comprehensive details, please view the video.
