When the 3G iPhone is introduced this summer, AT&T, the exclusive U.S. iPhone sales partner with Apple, will cut the price by as much as $200, according to a person familiar with the strategy. AT&T is preparing to subsidize $200 of the cost of a new iPhone, bringing the price down to $199 for customers who sign two-year contracts, the source says. Apple is expected to have two versions of the new iPhone, an 8-gigabyte-memory and a 16-gigabyte-memory model with price tags widely expected to be $399 and $499.

According to AppleInsider (via MacRumors) Apple has added a geotagging feature to the Camera application in the upcoming iPhone 2.0 firmware.

O2 has confirmed it will make an iPhone-related announcement in conjunction with Apple “in the coming weeks.” The news was confirmed by O2 owner Telefonica Europe boss Matthew Key after Wednesday’s announcement of the mobile network’s financial results. While he refused to be drawn on an exact time-scale for the announcement, Key did confirm his company to hold a multiyear exclusive agreement with Apple for selling the iPhone in the UK and Ireland, despite recent chatter of a potential end to network exclusivity.

Microsoft's Mac unit is set to disclose on Tuesday that copies of the new Office for Mac 2008 are flying off the shelves at three times the rate of its predecessor.
