Apple wields ultimate control over applications running on your iPhone. If it doesn't like an app it flips a "kill switch" that zaps an unpalatable iTunes App off your iPhone in a heart beat. At least that's the buzz today in the blogosphere about a line of code found inside Apple's iPhone 2.0 software by independent iPhone developer Jonathan Zdziarski.

It seems that Apple has listened to user complains with firmware 2.0 and released 2.0.1 firmware. You can go ahead to iTunes and download it there. If you have unlocked iPhone, dont install the new firmware yet since PwnageTool and WinPwn does not work with the new firmware yet.

Attention iPhone 4 owners. In case you didn't get the newsflash over the weekend, a working jailbreak has finally been released for the iPhone 4 by the guys at dev-team. Enjoy.

As soon as Pandora heard that Apple would be launching the App Store, its designers and engineers began working on an iPhone version of Pandora that ran on jaikbroken iPhones, then rebuilt it using Apple's apparently excellent SDK. Having witnessed Pandora in action on an iPhone (see screenshots), we can say that it works great. It could be the best version of Pandora yet, given that it requires neither a computer, the way the web version does, nor a paid subscription, the way previous mobile implementations of Pandora have done.

Apple's (AAPL) iPhone 3G and the G1 with Google (GOOG) unveiled on Tuesday have a lot in common. Both are smart phones designed for users who want easier access to the Web than is offered by the current generation of RIM (RIMM) BlackBerries. They share a lot of features - high res (320 x 480 pixel) color displays, motion sensors, support for GPS and Bluetooth 2.0, and venues for third-party apps. And they share some of the same flaws - both are locked to their respective networks, both lack video recording capability and full cut-and-paste text editing, to name just a few.
