Syncing Google Calendar With iCal - 0 views

  •
Google calendar can be a great tool for organizing your life. Sure, it's not as powerful as other desktop-based calendar applications or even personal digital assistants. But it's free and it works on just about any Web browser. You can even use it across multiple computers-you don't need to stick to one machine, as most other desktop-based calendaring applications are limited to. However, sometimes you would still want to use your own desktop application. Google Calendar does have limitations. For one, there's no internal means to handle tasks or to-do lists. And the interface can be a bit slow when you're working on slow connections. Fortunately, Google Calendar allows for syncing with external applications, by virtue of SyncML, and through one-way syncing via XML. For instance Apple's iCal, which is built-into Mac OS X, can be used to subscribe to your Google Calendar, and will automatically check Google Calendar every few minutes to check for new items.

iPhone Screen Replacement - Step by Step - 0 views

  •
One of the most complex repairs on an iPhone is a screen replacement repair, before you attempt this repair be sure to have sufficient time to complete the task, and have a clear working space for your iPhone and the replacement screen to sit in while working on them. For a replacement screen repair it is necessary to completely disassemble the iPhone, therefore I would suggest that prior to commencing the repair get a few small pieces of paper in order to label your parts, and I particular the origin of the screws. Label them as follows; Metal Back Screws, aluminum back case, and motherboard - lay them out on the workspace in this order with a small space between them for the other iPhone components and replacement screen to lie in.The tools and equipment required for this repair are; a case opener, a small Phillips screwdriver, a paperclip to eject the SIM tray and the iPhone replacement screen, once you have these to hand and the paper labels lined up. Be sure to have clean hands before starting the repair.

waffle software · ThisService - 0 views

Built into Mac OS X, but often neglected, is the concept of 'services'. They are small and targeted tools you can use in almost any program to insert text or do something useful with the current selection. Select text and Google it or look it up in a dictionary. Select a mathematic expression, like "6 * 7", and calculate it. Just select text (or place the insertion point where you want it) and pick a service from the Services menu in the application menu.

airport - the Little Known Command Line Wireless Utility - OS X Daily - 0 views

  •
Strangely hidden from the casual user is a spiffy command line utility that allows you to view, configure, and troubleshoot your Mac's wireless connection. It doesn't appear to be well documented, and judging by the obscure location of the command, Apple probably didn't think it would be too useful for the average Mac user. But the hidden command line airport tool is very useful indeed, so here is how to access it, and how you can use it too. The first thing you'll want to do is create a symbolic link to the airport command, because it is situated in a very inconvenient location for quick usage.
