HARLAN - Authorities are investigating what is believed to be an accidental shooting that occurred Saturday morning in Harlan. The Shelby County Sheriff's Office was called to Nishna Bend Recreation Area for a report of a shooting. Deputies found Daniel J. Schumacher, 38, of Harlan, with apparent gunshot wounds to his hand and thigh.

A transient was arrested soon after robbing a Lincoln tobacco store Thursday afternoon. Before fleeing the scene he allegedly punched and bit a customer. Police say 34-year-old Ronald Woods entered Aladdin Tobacco near North 26th and Orchard streets around 4:30 p.m. and demanded cigarettes and "Get-Real" Potpourri, a form of synthetic marijuana.

T.J. Lane, who was serving life sentences for a notorious high school shooting spreed, escaped tonight from an Ohio prison, officials said. Lane, who is now 19, broke out of the Allen Correctional Facility along with another prisoner, Clifford Opperud, 45.

A McCook, Nebraska man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly trading cigarettes for sex with two 15-year-old Lincoln girls. Thirty-one-year-old Adam Brunswick faces two counts of first-degree sexual assault and electronic child enticement. Police say Brunswick began interacting with the girls through a dating website.

He should not have even thought of doing this. This disgusts me to the max. He should have waited to get money for cigarettes not do what he did.

EMORY, Texas -- Multiple sources are reporting that Deputy Jerred Dooley has been fired by the Rains County Sheriff's Office. No official statement has been released by the sheriff. Cole Middleton, Candy's owner, said that he has not been notified of the firing, but the move was the beginning of getting justice for Candy.

I understand that if a dog is attacking, it may need to be shot so it won't attack. Candy wasn't attacking, so he just shot a living creature for no reason. Then he says he won't kill the dog to put her our of her misery. I agree that he should lose his job for this.
