Today, the ACLU announced that it is filing a federal lawsuit on behalf of prisoners at the East Mississippi Correctional Facility, a private prison in Meridian, Mississippi. The suit alleges that EMCF is "hyper-violent, grotesquely filthy and dangerous." One example of the jail's dangers: this handwritten letter from an inmate describing his own rape.

Hong Kong (CNN) -- A court in Hong Kong has ruled that a British banker charged with the grisly murder of two Indonesian women is psychologically fit to enter a plea on both counts. However, the case has been adjourned until July next year to allow for more than 200 pieces of forensic and DNA evidence to be analyzed.

Anwan Glover, the actor who played Slim Charles in HBO's "The Wire," was stabbed in a Washington D.C. nightclub in the early hours of Sunday morning. Glover was kicked and beaten during a allegedly unprovoked attack at a venue called Café Asia.

(CNN) -- Arron Lewis, the suspect in the abduction and slaying of Arkansas real estate agent Beverly Carter, told reporters Tuesday that he pleaded not guilty to the charges only because his lawyer told him to. He said he wanted to plead guilty because he just wanted "this to be over with."

That's just gross, a 64 year old man, do that stuff to two 7-8 year old little girls. He deserves life in prison!

HARLAN - Authorities are investigating what is believed to be an accidental shooting that occurred Saturday morning in Harlan. The Shelby County Sheriff's Office was called to Nishna Bend Recreation Area for a report of a shooting. Deputies found Daniel J. Schumacher, 38, of Harlan, with apparent gunshot wounds to his hand and thigh.
