Surveillance video shows two children starting a fire outside an Omaha school last week. Authorities said the children intentionally started the fire at a Dumpster next to Walnut Hill Elementary near 45th and Charles streets last Wednesday about 8:30 p.m. In the video, one of the children runs from the fire while the other stays to add more fuel.

The 23-year-old woman told police that she was walking south of the State Capitol early Sunday, when she noticed a man following her. FAIRBURY, Neb. - A southeast Nebraska woman has been given life plus 50 years in prison for beating her husband to death. Susan DeJong, 55, was sentenced on Thursday to life in prison for the first-degree murder of her husband. DeJong was given 50 years for using a deadly weapon to commit a felony.

FRANKLIN, Neb. - Three members of a south-central Nebraska family are in jail in connection with the death of a 2-year-old boy. Franklin County authorities said family members brought Joseph Rinehart to a hospital on Monday evening. He was unresponsive when he arrived at the hospital and later pronounced dead.
STOCKTON - A man charged with beating to death his girlfriend's 2-year-old daughter told police he was frustrated by the child's crying. Demetrius Anderson, 23, is charged with child abuse resulting in the death of a child younger than 8. The toddler died from suspicious circumstances at a University of California, Davis, medical facility.
