Micromax has unveiled not one, but two Windows Phone devices - the Canvas Win W121 and the Canvas Win W092, both dual-SIM handsets with budget pricing. While the Canvas Win W121 is priced at Rs 9,500, the Win W092 is a more affordable device, carrying a sticker price of Rs 6,500.

It's been ages since we saw Windows Phone running on a non-Nokia device, so the experience seemed a tad surreal, for the lack of a better word. For the uninitiated, Micromax launched its first devices running Microsoft's mobile platform earlier today, and both the budget Canvas Win W092 and the slightly pricier Win W121 look like compelling options under Rs 10,000.

It appears that XOLO is all set to launch its second Windows Phone smartphone. The company's upcoming device, called the XOLO Win Q1000 has been spotted on import and export database Zauba. XOLO has imported over 10,000 units of the smartphone to the country from China, which indicates a launch is imminent.

After revealing its plans to release a budget-friendly Windows Phone device in March this year, the domestic smartphone maker Lava has finally entered the WP arena with the launch of the Iris Win1. Lava has managed to price the smartphone quite affordably at Rs 4,999, since Microsoft has waived off the licensing fee for its mobile platform.

Over the last few months, rumours were rife that the Indian smartphone maker Celkon would soon be entering the Windows Phone segment. The brand also confirmed its plans to do so at the launch event of its budget phablet, the Millenia Epic Q550 ( first impressions).

The Samsung Galaxy App store now provides a tenable alternative to Google Maps by offering the beta version of Nokia's HERE mapping and navigation app. The collaboration could prove to be a win-win situation for both the parties as Nokia aims to broaden its market share by not being restricted to Windows Phone (post the Microsoft acquisition) anymore and Samsung gets to minimise its dependence on Google's services.

Given the stiff competition in the market, the smartphones which can offer the best with the least price tag are emerging as winning sellers, while those which only offer the bare minimum are getting lost in oblivion.
