"Do you think you can do this slope Ben?," my Mom and Dad asked. "Yeah. I think so." I replied. There I was skiing down out of control and had to stop my self, by plopping down on my belly. I could...

With all due respect to the memories of Michael Kennedy and Sonny Bono, let's spare the skiing public a law requiring helmets on the slopes. It's not that helmets aren't a good idea; it's that public education, marketing savvy and good adult examples will probably be more effective at making helmet use commonplace. Quote- A County Sheriff's Office from the search and rescue unit searching for a young woman said this about ski patrol and what they will do He said," yesterday that workers, all volunteers, would no longer comb the mountain regularly, but that the search would continue." So ski patrol works very hard to keep people safe on the slopes. Paraphrase- Some people that were braking the rules were having a football game on skies and as a man was going out for a pass he slammed head first into a tree. He died.

Starting this season, National Ski Patrol volunteers will traverse wooded areas surrounding three local ski resorts, keeping a watch for lost skiers and snowboarders, said National Forest Service Ranger Terry Ellis. Sixteen ski patrol volunteers will serve Mt. Waterman, Snow Crest and Buckhorn ski resorts, he said, and will be easily identified by black jackets with a white cross on the back. Quote- "Don't break a leg," my non-skiing friends would say as I headed off on a ski trip. "That's just a myth," I would respond, thinking they had been overly influenced by those New Yorker cartoons showing a skier with his leg in a cast sitting by the lodge fireplace with a glass of cognac in hand. Then I joined the Ski Patrol and learned that people do injure their legs while skiing--and their arms, their heads and especially their knees and thumbs. Some even die. Jasper E Paraphrase- Ski Patrol does more than rescue people, some men were killed by suffocation and asphyxiation by volcanic gases. Moving a fence around a volcanic vent on a slope. When the hot gases warmed the deep snow it collapsed and they fell in and suffocated.

During skiing a large number of people often get injured and that is when ski patrol act. Some of injured skiers are usually not physically prepared well enough, the other are just a part of an accident caused by some strong forces of nature, like avalanches. Quote- (this will be a good thing to colaberate on in the suptopic people go on runs they shouldn't be on) "Ski patrol is an organization that rescues people captured in a deep snow, people that fell of the cliffs, or some other injured people, not only in a backcountry, but also on regular slopes" (http://www.skiingforever.com/ski-patrol/) paraphrase- Ski patrol has many way to rescue someone depending on where they are hurt or stuck. For example ski patrol uses helicopter, snowcat, toboggan, or skimobile, but if they are in the open they ski to them or if they can't get up they attach a spine bored to the back. Ski patrol is superb at skiing and act fast and smart to fatal situations and snow falls. They keep the slopes safe for you.
