Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was taken into custody Friday evening after a manhunt that left the city virtually paralysed and his older brother and accomplice dead. The 19-year-old was pulled, wounded and bloody, from a tarpaulin-covered boat in a back garden in the Boston suburb of Watertown. Infra-red cameras on a police helicopter flying about the scene provided the key identification clues that police needed to confirm that the suspect was hiding in the trailered pleasure boat in Watertown, Massachusetts.

Tsarnaev was discovered hiding in the boat, in suburban Watertown, Mass., on April 19 after a daylong manhunt that paralyzed Boston and its surroundings. He had been wounded in a firefight with police.
