"Whether it's a friendly match, or for points, or a final, or any game - I play the same. I'm always trying to be my best, first for my team, for myself, for the fans, and to try and win." This an attitude so many people have come to respect. From his childhood in Argentina to today, Messi has truly made himself the most amazing soccer player ever. Overcoming many setbacks as a child, Messi's childhood is truly a complement to his outstanding life. His quick rise from the bottom to the MVP at Barcelona really was unbelievable. Lastly, all the records he holds can turn heads all day. Therefore, I agree that Messi's childhood, rise at Barcelona, and many records he holds really designate him as the most amazing soccer player of all time.

The childhood Messi endured really taught us a lot about him. Great role models for this star really made a difference for him. Jorge Horacio was a factory worker and Celia María Cuccittini was a part time cleaner, and they dedicated a lot to Messi. From the beginning, Lionel's soccer talent was very clear. According to a real Messi fan, Lionel's first experience with football was when he was very young, for the club Newell's Old Boys. He came down with a hormone deficiency at as early an age as 11, and moved to Barcelona because his parents could not afford to get him treatment in Argentina. If you think Messi's childhood was interesting, you will be blown away by his quick rise in FC Barcelona.

Pure talent is really what brought Messi up through Barcelona so fast. The only reason Lionel moved to Spain though was because of his hormone disorder. The club offered to pay for his medication if he joined the team. His age also was stunning for his talent. Messi's first Barcelona game was played when he was 17 years and 114 days on October 16, 2002 against Espanyol, making him the youngest La Liga club player to ever play and third-youngest for Barcelona. Against Albacete on May 1, 2005, Lionel scored his first goal for Barca. Distinguishing himself as the youngest player to score for Barcelona in La Liga, his first goal came when he was 17 years, 10 months and 7 days old. That goal was his only one in 9 games that season. This information all came from www.lionel-messi.co.uk/biography. Moving through the club came very easily for Messi. "On 16 September, for the second time in three months, Barcelona announced an update to Messi's contract; this time it was improved to pay him as a first team member and extended until June 2014," according to www.lionel-messi.co.uk/biography. "He excelled at the trial and rapidly found himself starting for the Barcelona B team, averaging more than a goal per game," said a Messi fan. Whatever you think about Messi's move up through Barcelona, you will be amazed by his records and dumbfounding career.

All the records Messi holds and the career he's developed is probably the biggest factor in him being the most amazing soccer player in the world. When he surpassed the record for goals in a calendar year, not that many people were surprised. Gerd Muller was kicked out of this title when Lionel scored his 86th goal of the year December 9, 2012. Though not all believe it, Messi is in serious contention for best player all time with some very famous persons. As stated on biography.com, Messi first started being compared to Diego Maradona when he reached his height of 5 ft 7 in and his short speed and aggressive play style began being noticed. During 2009, Messi and his left foot really were to thank for Barcelona's titles, including the Champions League, La Liga, and the Spanish Super Cup. He also won the FIFA "World Player of Year" and honor/Ballon d'Or awards after coming second two times in a row. Maradona, another great Argentine soccer player, said, "I see him as very similar to me," he commented to the BBC. "He's a leader and is offering lessons in beautiful football. He has something different to any other player in the world." Finally, Leo's 40 yd dash time is faster than that of many NFL players. His time was 4.4, while the average NFL time 4.6.

Messi's childhood, rise through Barcelona, and outstanding records and career has designated him as the most amazing soccer player ever. Will anyone surpass him? How long will he maintain his level of play? Does anyone oppose him being the number one player in the world? I think Messi will maintain his level of play into his forties. I think people who oppose his number one ranking are just jealous, but I know that there are some. And if anyone tries to surpass him, well, just don't mess with success.

  • Messi eventually grew to 5 feet and 7 inches, and with his short stature, speed and relentless attacking style, he drew comparisons to another famous Argentinean footballer: Diego Maradona. Messi steered Barcelona to a wealth of success, most notably in 2009, when the left-footer's team captured the Champions League, La Liga, and Spanish Super Cup titles. That same year, after two consecutive runner-up finishes, he took home his first FIFA "World Player of the Year" honor/Ballon d'Or award.
