In the past, a successful fishing trip might have netted hundreds of kilograms of the large yellow croaker, but you only get a few a year now, the captain said. This has lead to rocketing prices for the fish: from under 100 yuan a kilogram to 4,000 to 5,000 yuan.

Why should we care about animal extinction? There are many reasons why we should care, but the biggest is animals are important to us. That is why we should care about fish extinction. First, why fish are going extinct and some reasons. Second, the importance of fish to us and how we use them to our advantage. Finally, what will happen when they go extinct and how it will affect us. My favorite subtopic out of all of these and gives the best information is "the reasons why fish are extinct." There are many reasons why fish are going extinct, but some of them consist on us. One of the biggest reason is overfishing. Julia Layton described it as "Overfishing and destructive fishing practices like trawling, where fishers drag a weighted net along the seabed and just grab up everything down there, whether they can sell it or not, deplete some species to point of collapse." There are also other reasons beside trawling and overfishing. Pollution, loss of habitat, and global warming are some of the reasons why the United Nations think fish are going extinct. Also, they are probably the reasons that most people think when you say fish extinction. Some of these are pointing the finger at us because we demand fish to eat, also use it as our hobby too much, and sometimes go over limit for fish or keep one that is too small. I am a big fisherman, but I always throw them back if they are not good for eating and some people don't. So try to be the guy who lets the small fish or bad fish go and not kill them. Fish extinction is a big issue right now, but think about the fun and tasty times we have had with them and how they are important to us. Why ARE fish important to us? Well we all like to eat them, but really the main reason is people around the world in poor countries can still eat fish and taste good to them. One time Geoff L. Allan and James F. Tidwell said "Fish is a vital source of food for people. It is man's most important single source of high-quality protein, providing ~16% of the animal protein consumed by the world's population, according to the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations (1997). It is a particularly important protein source in regions where livestock is relatively scarce-fish supplies <10% america consumed animal north in protein of and europe>t exact. Hopefully though people will start to recognize what changes need to made and maybe stop the warning on fish extinction. How many fish are going extinct right now? More than 40,000 fish are right now and more coming. Most of the fish are unknown to me, so that probably means the commercial fish will be the last fish to go extinct. Finally, these are some reasons why fish are going extinct, how they are important, and why extinction of fish will affect us.

Subtopic: What will fish extinction affect Paraphrase Before the extinction of fish, a fishing trip that was successful might have been to catch hundreds of large yellow croaker, but now you can only get a few a year. This leads to prices that go up for fish have changed from 100 yuan a kilogram to 5,000 yuan a kilogram. www.chinadialogue.net/...5221

“For the last two years profits from coastal fishing have been low,” explained Chen Jiming, chief engineer at Hainan Fisheries Research Institute. “Early estimates show that, with increasing fuel and labour costs, about 80% of fishermen will suffer losses without a diesel subsidy or similar support.”

China’s prawn catch once reached 40,000 tonnes a year, but recent surveys put the figure at only 7,000 tonnes. In the 1970s, most Chinese seerfish caught were three years old. By the 1990s, they were two years old and today they are only one year old. According to a report by Weihai fishery authorities, in the first quarter of 2012, some 80% of boats were tied up in port at any one time – at times, 90%. This is more than in any other year, and fishermen are now more likely to stop fishing before the end of the season.

But less than 1% of the global ocean is effectively protected right now.

But the issue isn't just having seafood on our plates. Ocean species filter toxins from the water. They protect shorelines. And they reduce the risks of algae blooms such as the red tide.

Already, 29% of edible fish and seafood species have declined by 90% -- a drop that means the collapse of these fisheries.
