"Everybody pulls for David, nobody roots for Goliath." famous quote by Wilt (the stilt) Chamberlain. Wilt Chamberlain was the Goliath and Bill Russell was David. Bill Russell and the Celtic won 4 NBA Finals in a row. Wilt Chamberlain was 7'2'' and he weighed 256 pounds and you could see why he called himself Goliath because he is so tall. Wilt Chamberlain had amazing athletic ability. Wilt had great character. Wilt had incredible physical ability. Wilt was an amazing athlete because of all these things.

First, Wilt Chamberlain had amazing athletic ability. He liked to do fadeaways and the dipper shot. "He liked to score with fadeaway jumpers or with his trademark "dipper" shot -- a soft, back-handed finger roll -- rather than dunks."according to the Editors of Publications International, Ltd. He had a lot of points. Chamberlain against the LAL scored 78 points. That set the stage for Wilt's accomplishment on the night of March 2, 1962, in Hershey, Pennsylvania against New York Knicks he scored 100 points. He had a lot of assist. He had 9.3 assist per game each season he was in the NBA and he was in the National Basketball Association for 15 years. He had stupendous athletic ability but he had exceptional character.

Second, Wilt Chamberlain had good character. He did not commit fouls. "Wilt committed only 15 fouls per season for his 1st and 2nd season. He committed 20 fouls in every other season." according to www.nba.com/...wilt100_moments.htm.l He impacted the game. Wilt impacted the game like no one else did by his character. He stayed late to practice. When he was on the Pistons he left the practice court at 9:30 when the team left at 8. His character is not close to his physical ability.

Lastly, Wilt had good physical ability. He was incredibly durable. He was incredibly durable, once playing 47 consecutive games without a minute's rest according to the Editors of Publications International, Ltd. He was extremely strong. He was a dominant offensive force, unstoppable on his way to the basket, yet he was also an amazing and exceptional all-around athlete who took pride in developing the all-around skills to compete with players a half-foot shorter. He was so tall, 7'2'' In the NBA Chamberlain was a humongous offensive force. according to the www.nba.com/...wilt100_moments.html

What would change if Wilt Chamberlain didn't score 100 points in a single game but 50? If Wilt didn't score 100 points there would be no African-American in basketball today. No one would try to beat his records.
