As a Navy SEAL there are many challenges such as getting somewhere without being seen or surviving a firefight but for a SEAL the only day was the day you lived through. There are many elite task forces task forces in the world but there is one that has proven itself superior over all task forces. This task force is known as the U.S. Navy S.E.A.L.s standing for Sea Earth Air and Land. The SEALs have a different background than most other task forces, being used in WWII and then being founded 20 years later. Before you become a SEAL you go through a brutal training course that last 6 months of relentisity. SEALs have done many missions for this country but only a limited amount the public is allowed to know. Now it's time to go a bit more in depth with the history of the U.S. Navy SEALs.
The history of the SEALs was very different than how other task forces were formed. The first operation of the SEALs wasn't after they were created. Navy Special Warfare operators can be traced back to the Scouts and Raiders, of naval combat demolition units, and the SEALs were considered as the backbone of the raid on Normandy Beach, at night they would swim up to the beach scout the beach for sniper posts, traps, and machinegun nests. In 1942 during Operation Torch, was the first allied landings in Europe, on the North African coast. Scouts and Raiders also supported landings in Sicily, Salerno, Anzio, Normandy and southern France. In 1962 president John F. Kennedy founded a small elite force for the Navy called SEALs. The SEALs were established in 1962 by President John F. Kennedy as a small elite military force that would use smaller vehicles instead of tanks, jets, and submarines, but for land attacks the SEALs would go in bigger groups attacking their target. S.E.A.L. isn't just talking about the circus animal that goes, "Ark! Ark!" and balances a beach ball on their noses. To be a SEAL it means that you are a human machine able to almost anything, because you have survived hypothermia, ran five miles with 200lb of gear on you. When you get the rights to wear the Navy SEAL's trident you know you are a true warrior. The history of the Navy SEALs is a weird start but the training to be a SEAL is grueling.
Before you get the rights to wear a SEAL trident you first must go through 6 gruelling months of true training. One of the best parts about the long training is that it doesn't just prepare you physically but it prepares you for something that would help even better. Being mentally prepared for battle is better than coming physically prepared, because when your mind is ready you won't freak out. Being able to maintain focus cannot only save your life but it can save others lives because if you start screaming the enemy would be able to find your team and kill you. Being physically prepared isn't as good as being mentally prepared, but it is something you do need to go into battle. With the longest military training in the world for SEALs. The SEALs have the longest military training in the world which allows for the best soldier possible to be made, and the best attributes for that soldier. Making the perfect sniper, demolition man, or striker An interesting thing about BUD/s is that to each class there is one man who is the honor man, the man of honor is the man who keeps everyone going even when they are to quit. After hearing the words, "Hell week is secured!" the SEAL the missions don't get much easier.
The SEALs have done many missions but many are classified, so here are just a bit of them. There is one mission all of us know about the raid on Osama bin Laden. The Navy SEALs attack the compound of terrorist kingpin Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad, Pakistan. The raid on Osama we all know about 20 SEALs went in to Osama's compound, with one Black Hawk malfunctioning. The SEALs went in successfully killing Bin Laden, and taking on information on about anything. Then there was the rescue of the crew of the boat Alabama. The rescue of the Alabama crew, Barrack Obama's first conducted military act of his presidency. Wasn't fun and games it was hard work to be able to keep your eye on the target the whole time, with lots of communication and teamwork. This allowed the crew of the Alabama to be rescued unharmed from the Taliban pirates. The arrest of Manuel Norigea was a not hear of was a mission by three platoons of SEALs. The mission called, "Nifty Package" was to arrest of the Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega, after a bloody firefight the SEALs captured the dictator which later lead to Noriega surrendering. These were the missions of the SEALs, here is an overview of the Navy SEALs.
There are hundreds of elite task forces in the world but one on a whole different group of elite men the U.S. Navy S.E.A.L.s. After reading my essay, do you think the SEALs are the best task force in the world? If you don't agree then what task force do you think could beat the U.S. Navy SEALs, and who would the U.S. have to protect themselves from powerful terrorists, and foreign threats?
