Students learn the importance of math accuracy and, more specifically, that knowing how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions makes life easier for everyone.

Let's be honest. Designing PBL for Math can be a different beast. With the pressure of high-stakes testing and a packed curriculum, I often coach teachers who are nervous about giving time to a robust PBL project. In addition, because of the plethora of math standards, it can be difficult to choose the right learning target(s) for the project. Here are some tips for teachers designing individual Math PBL projects.

These units were created by individual teachers and may contain suggested book titles, articles, and/or other resources that some may find inappropriate for their students. It is the school's responsibility to review the units (and all suggested resources) prior to instruction to determine if the materials are acceptable for their children and the learning community.

Blogging makes a difference in student a student's education. It's the most important change I've made in my teaching career. Through this workshop, I want to encourage you to take up blogging with your class and for your students while integrating the upcoming Common Core State Standards.
