This website, produced by the Martha's Vineyard Museum, tells the story of Laura Jernegan and the journal she kept on her voyage. It also tells the adventurous history of whaling. "

This interactive journal was written by a 6-year-old and allows you to see her handwriting as well as use a "magic lens" to read it clearly in type. Would work great on the Smartboard. Super primary source that is grade appropriate!

Photos and information about animals taken in their natural habitats. Look for photos and information by animal name or location. Very cool!

I don't know what all is still part of your "space" curriculum, but thought this was cool and the kids would like it. It's a great way to show how day/night are changing over time around the world.

I'm not sure if all the words will be easy enough for 3rd grade, but the ones I've gotten so far seem to be. Great way to practice keyboarding!
